The twinning agreement between the Serbian town of Kragujevac and Reggio Emilia, signed in 2004, has among its objectives the collaboration for the mutual promotion of economic development, the strengthening of the public services and welfare.
In particular, over the years the two cities have worked on the issue of the rights of children and young people. From this collaboration, the “Mind the difference” project was born, involving the Serbian State Program reserved for Juvenile Policies. The project aims to improve the conditions of children and adolescents with special reference to those who are suffering from disabilities or are in a state of abandonment and disadvantage. For this project, the Municipality of Reggio Emilia has relied on the collaboration of different actors of the Emilia-Romagna Region in order to develop this project thanks to their experience and know-how.
